Tawa Fish Masala

Fish fillets marinated and cooked on a flat griddle (tawa).

Ingredients

  • Fish Fillets: 500g (Rohu or any freshwater fish)
  • Onion: 1, finely chopped
  • Tomato: 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder: 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon Juice: 1 tbsp
  • Oil: 3 tbsp
  • Salt: to taste

Instructions

    Marinate fish fillets with lemon juice, salt, and turmeric.

    Heat oil on a tawa. Shallow fry the fish fillets until golden on both sides. Set aside.

    In the same tawa, add more oil if needed. Sauté onions until soft.

    Add ginger-garlic paste and tomatoes. Cook until mushy.

    Add spice powders and a splash of water to make a thick masala.

    Place the fried fish back on the tawa and coat it with the masala. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
